The grace of being held.

Thankful for Becca and Mayson. The have both worn a lot of hats over the years and always amaze me with their ingenuity and love for our customers.

“This is what it means to be held.”
The lyrics from Natalie Grant’s song Held have been echoing in my heart.

What does it really mean when someone says, “I’ll hold you in prayer”? To me, it feels like being kept close to the heart, safely carried in love. Scripture reminds us that we are held in the palm of God’s hand. Is this what it means to be held—to rest in His strength and care?

Grateful to be held by friends and great teammates over the past years.

Receiving Without Deflecting

When someone holds me in esteem, offers love, or speaks a genuine compliment, I’ve often found myself deflecting. Instead of letting myself be held by their warmth, honesty, or kindness, I brush it aside—not because I don’t value it, but because I struggle to receive it.

But what if being held means letting their words and love rest on me, not because I always see it or feel it, but because they do? To be held is to receive the gift of another’s perspective, to honor their love by allowing it to bless me.

So grateful to be held by church friends, those in high school and college and finding their new wings in life.

The Grace of Receiving

Being held does not mean weakness, or failing to carry my own weight. It is pausing in the moment to listen—to the heart of another, to their genuine praise, care, or encouragement. It is letting myself be blessed to receive.

Instead of deflecting, I remind myself to say thank you—to receive the grace Christ is imparting through another person’s words. To be filled, even in small moments.

Honored to be held by my grandmother in prayer during the beginning.

Humility in Being Held

Sometimes I wonder: when I deflect a compliment or a kindness, am I being humble? It feels that way. But perhaps, in truth, I am refusing connection. Real humility is not in pushing away grace—it is in receiving it with an open heart, allowing someone else the joy of giving.

As someone who loves to nourish others, I ask myself: am I letting myself be nourished, too? Am I allowing myself to be held by the grace of others’ love, instead of rushing to give it right back?

Maybe to be truly humble is to receive. To let ourselves be held, in those tiny but enormous moments, and know it doesn’t make us less—it makes us whole.

Prayer

Father, thank You for holding me in Your hand. Teach me to receive the love and encouragement You send through others without deflecting or doubting. Help me to say thank You and be filled by Your grace. May I learn the humility of being held, so that I can walk in Your love and extend it freely to others.
Amen.

To those who have held me in their beautiful presence, the warmth of their genuine smile and delight, their prayerful hearts and helping hands, I humbly thank you and am filled by the grace in your life.

With love and grace,
—Amber
